Rugged Notebook ARP858 - mobile PC for harsh conditions!

IPC2U presents the ARP858 Rugged Notebook. This rugged notebook helps all users, needing a mobile PC and at the same time facing high mechanical pressures or bad weather conditions.

Imagine that a group of technicians will take some measures at a power station in open field. They are getting with a jeep over unpaved way. While they are getting there, the device falls on vehicle floor. When the technicians do their measures in the field, shower comes down and the notebook is getting wet. After it the technicians get back over a gravel road. Thereby one of the technicians wants to analyze the acquired data. Despite of strong vibration of the vehicle he successes in it without computer problems.
Some normal notebook would not withstand this stress. In the best case it would lead to short malfunction, in the worst case it could cause strong damage.
Not the ARP858!

This device is protected according to IP54 standard (DIN EN 60529 norm). That means protection against splashing water or against intrusion of dust. Moreover, the device matches up to the MIL-STF-810F, a norm released by the US Department of Defence. This norm is internationally generally recognized as a standard for computer reliability. This standard ensures among other aspects, that the device works well under extreme environment conditions and does not miss its performance parameter. So, the ARP858 can withdraw the temperature range between -20°C and +50°C.
Moreover, the norm ensures that the device is resistant against high grade of humidity, vibration and drops as well as rain with strong wind. For example it can withstand free drop from 1.2 m height.
Such devices are often used at places where there are no appropriate power sources, e. g. in the field, in store houses or construction sites. Therefore, long operating battery life is very important. The ARP858 can work up to 5 hours with one battery charge. Moreover, the device is protected against misusage by unauthorized persons as it is equipped with fingerprint reader and Kensington Lock.

Beside ruggedness the device offers all things which one needs for working.
13.3“ TFT Sun Readible Touch Screen Monitor with 1280 x 800 resolution provides good imaging of graphics, data and texts. Also audio features are with HD Audio, 2x built-in 2W Speakers and 2x microphones very good.
The Intel Core 2 Duo Merom 1.06GHz Ultra Voltage CPU ensures relatively high performance with high energy consumption. 1GB DDR2 RAM is onboard; it can be upgraded up to 4GB. A 2,5“ 250GB shock protected removable HDD is also onboard.

The device provides a lot of interfaces and connectors such as 1x RJ45 for Ethernet connecting, 1x RJ11 for direct connection to the telephone network, 3x USB 2.0, 1x RS232 and 1x VGA. The notebook supports Gbit Ethernet as well as connection to the Internet via 56kbps modem. There are also good facilities for wireless communication: beside a GPS receiver to track a location, WLAN 802.11 a/g/n with up to 300mb/s data transmission speed and Bluetooth 2.1 a WWAN-Modul (HSDPA/GRPS/GSM/WCDMA) can be optionally installed.
